Happy Father's Day

Out on the island this weekend we got to see my little niece Ea and celebrate Father's Day with the whole fam. Already in the 2's Ea is a walking talking machine! Growing like a weed we are all as captivated as ever. Here are a few shots of my little fave before Grandpa Richie's killer Sunday feast.


So quick to laugh and so cute. Whenever there was a silence Ea would chime in and direct the gang as she already knows how to do all too well. "Everybody clap!", she'd exclaim and the bunch of us would instantly burst into applause. Then it was "Everybody laugh!" and the hilarity would continue. By the time we got to "Everybody clap and laugh!" it was pure silliness.

to dig into Grandpa's insanely delish eggplant parmigiana! And that was just the appetizer. By the time dad broke out the unbelievable vitello con piselli (veal with peas) we were in no place to be photographed. Ah, gotta love holidays with loving family!

my little niece is just over 21 months old now and cracking us up more and more every day. these are a few quick shots from our pre-Thanksgiving turkey din in Bushwick.



we love that both of our nieces first recognize us as a single entity and not necessarily as two separate people. Janaya for a long time simply referred to us as "Krissyalex". "Where's Krissyalex?" "C'mon Krissyalex, living room!" and now Ea has formed her own version Alexkrissy. She keeps telling Gian and Jen "I miss Alexkrissy". We obviously have to get them over here for play date soon. As those of you know, they grow up so fast!

Ea weekend

For you lovers of cute babies out there here is a new pic of my niece Ea. Plenty more were taken last weekend and uploaded to my flickr account. And on that note, Happy Birthday Frosty! We love ya, and your little bundle of wonder.

This is Ea Mimm Feleppa, she's my niece. I adore the hell out of this little creature. Actually the photo above is what made me want to write a blog. I don't know why exactly, but her coming into the world was somehow a major factor. A need for a record of these times, to recreate the journal, to acknowledge all of this amazingness life brings us. There is a quote that fellow TMS alumni know well, one by Henry David Thoreau. It goes like this:

"Let the daily tide leave some deposit on these pages, as it leaves sand and shells on the shore.... This may be a calendar of the ebbs and flows of the soul; and on these sheets as a beach, the waves may cast up pearls and seaweed."

I love photography too, always have. Dad is a great photographer so I was fortunate to have such a good eye as a teacher. Again, there is so much amazingness out there, some times you can't just let it slip by unrecorded.

I have an interesting meeting tomorrow. Technically, figuratively, either way I'm hesitant to get into it so prematurely. Checking out my options as a horticulturist let's say. It's supposed to be a beautiful day. I hope so. Wish me a good meeting.
